When Things Go Wrong
Father, when things are going wrong
And my world is falling apart,
Please hold me in your loving arms
And send your peace into my heart.

Sometimes there is no other way to say it than to admit that everything is going wrong and nothing seems to be going right.  We need to stop and reassemble our fragmented thoughts and lives.  I find myself turning to this prayer when I can’t even explain why I feel “lost” or “overwhelmed.”

*************

Shrugging Off Insults/Gossip
Sweet Jesus, you cared so little
About what others said of you
Help me focus less on what others say
Help me care more about what I do.

This prayer helps me shrug off the nasty or hurtful words of others.  Whether it’s at a job, at home, whether it involves relatives or neighbors, it is quick and easy to recall at a moment’s notice.

*************

For Help in Paying Debts
Father, you’re the one who knows
The answer to financial woes
Open my eyes so I may see the way
To funds for those who I must pay.

I realize that it will take a long while to get out of debt, but I also know God has ways I’m not even aware of.  When I am too worried, I do not see the path He has laid for me, so this prayer helps me to focus and keep my eyes open.

Judging Others
I tell myself that I do not judge
As some folks often do
But my criticism is exactly that
Help me to see folks the way that you do.

I used to think that I was not judgmental, until one day when I recalled all the times that I really do judge others.  I might not ever stop completely, but this prayer helps me keep it to a minimum.
