Welcome to the Front Porch - come and set a while, bring a ball of yarn, a piece of fabric, plastic canvas, whatever your fingers and heart desires.
Find hints and tips, info and software reviews, links and stuff. It is Crafters, mostly the “soft” crafts like Crochet, some Plastic Canvas, a wee bit of Knitting, and lots of tips and hints about working with hooks, needles (with and without eyes), yarns, threads, and newer materials like flexible wires and cords. Stop by every two weeks or so, or choose to be notified when we add something new to our Patch.
Our Name
A friend suggested names he & his wife used in their Yarn shop years back. Two of those names were still not taken on the Web. I thought about those names and about five others, and asked for feedback from 25 of my friends, loved ones, and former coworkers.
CraftPatch got the most votes, but by the time I finished this website, it was taken, so I had to find another name. I belong to a craft group on Yahoo Groups, the CraftPorch. This is a variation of that name. We go back a long way, to the late 1980s. Read about how we got started, and about our craft-swaps, here.
